How Home Forecast collects, uses, and protects your information, including how we run our SMS program.
The short version
In plain English
- We collect what you give us when you book a service or fill out our lead form (your name, phone number, and what’s broken).
- We use it to schedule your appointment, send you status updates, and follow up. That’s it.
- Giving us your number lets us call you. We only text you if you ticked one of the SMS boxes on the form. Service texts and marketing texts are separate opt-ins, and neither is required. Reply STOP to cancel anytime.
- We never sell your information. Mobile information is never shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes, and your SMS opt-in data is never shared with anyone for any purpose.
Who we are
This site is operated by Home Forecast (“Home Forecast,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). When you use our website, fill out a form, call us, or text us, you’re sharing information with us, and this policy explains what happens with it.
You can reach us at 207-222 Elm Street · Toronto, ON · M5T 1K5 · CA or hello@homeforecast.ca.
What we collect
We try to collect as little as we need to do the job. Here’s the list:
- Contact info you give us: your first name and mobile number, plus your email and service address if you choose to share them.
- Service details: what equipment you have, what’s wrong, and how urgent it is.
- Communications: emails, texts, and call notes between you and our team.
- Payment info: handled by our payment processor; we do not store your full card number on our servers.
- Site usage: basic analytics like pages visited, device type, approximate location from IP, and referring source. We use this to keep the site working.
- Cookies: small files in your browser to remember preferences and measure traffic.
How we use it
- To schedule, perform, and follow up on the work you asked for.
- To send you appointment confirmations, dispatch updates, quotes, and invoices.
- To respond when you contact us.
- To send marketing or promotions only if you opted in (and you can opt back out anytime).
- To keep our site secure, prevent fraud, and improve how we run.
- To meet legal, tax, and warranty obligations.
We do not use your information for automated decisions that have a legal or similarly significant effect on you.
SMS / text messages
Mobile messaging program disclosure
Home Forecast runs two separate text-message programs, and you choose each one independently by ticking its own box on our lead form. Both boxes are unchecked by default. Neither is required to submit the form or to become a customer. If you leave both unticked we will simply call you instead.
- Service messages. Appointment confirmations, dispatch and arrival updates, quotes, invoices, and replies from our customer-care team about a request you made.
- Marketing messages. Occasional promotions, seasonal offers, and maintenance reminders. Separate opt-in, and you can keep service messages while declining these.
- You can also start a conversation by texting us first, which opts you in to replies about that conversation.
- Message frequency varies by your activity. Most customers receive a handful of service messages per request; marketing recipients receive no more than a few messages per month.
- Message and data rates may apply from your wireless carrier.
- Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
- Opt out anytime by replying
STOPto any text. You will receive one confirmation message and then no further texts (except in reply to a direct request from you). - Need help? Reply
HELPto any text, email hello@homeforecast.ca, or call +1 (437) 525-3050. - Consent is not a condition of purchase. You can book and use our services without agreeing to any texts.
How we handle your mobile information
Mobile information will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
Text-messaging opt-in data and consent records will not be shared with any third party for any purpose. Your consent status stays inside our own records.
We may share your mobile number with service providers (our messaging platform, our CRM, and our telephone provider) solely so they can deliver our messages and calls on our behalf. They act under written contract, may use the number only for that purpose, and may not use, sell, or share it for their own purposes. We do not sell mobile numbers, rent them, trade them, or supply them to lead-generation companies.
Supported carriers include Rogers, Bell, Telus, Freedom Mobile, Fido, Koodo, Virgin Plus, Videotron, and most other major Canadian carriers, along with AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless, Boost, U.S. Cellular, and most major U.S. carriers. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
Phone calls and recordings
Calls to or from Home Forecast may be recorded for quality, training, dispatch coordination, and dispute resolution. Where required by your state, you will be informed at the start of the call and can ask not to be recorded.
Your choices and rights
- Access, correct, or delete the information we hold about you.
- Opt out of marketing email by clicking unsubscribe in any message.
- Opt out of SMS by replying
STOPto any text. - Request a copy of your data in a portable format.
- If you live in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas, Oregon, or another U.S. state with a comprehensive privacy law, you also have the right to opt out of targeted advertising and to appeal a denial of your request.
- We do not knowingly process the personal information of children under 13.
Email hello@homeforecast.ca to exercise any of these rights. We’ll respond within the time your state law requires (usually 30 to 45 days).
How long we keep it
We keep your information as long as we need it to service your account, honor warranties, comply with tax and accounting rules, and defend against legal claims. When we no longer need it, we delete or de-identify it. SMS opt-in records are retained for at least four years to demonstrate compliance with the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA).
How we protect it
We use industry-standard safeguards: TLS in transit, encrypted storage, access controls, and least-privilege permissions for staff. No system is perfectly secure, so if you ever spot something that looks off, please email hello@homeforecast.ca and we will take it from there.
Changes to this policy
We update this policy when our practices change. The “effective” date at the top tells you when we last did. If a change is material, we’ll let you know by email or by a notice on the site.
